Then why just don't do it for iPhone? I'm pretty sure it will work if it's correctly done :P

For the iPod you could do what they did with the game phaze, analyze the music on the computer then put some data that would have what blocks come on the iPod. ;) but I don't think it will be ported to the iPod or any other device. :P
I use GameMaker www.yoyogames.com its great software!  If you use it too tell me. :)
Want to play AudioSurf with your joystick http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm
It can let you use your mouse and keyboard with your joystick.

Copy+Paste of my ideas of an Audiosurf App:

The pros to this idea:

    * Everybody with an iPhone or iTouch probably has a decent sized music collection
    * Audiosurf would become a lot more mainstream with the probable reaction from the iPhone/iTouch community

The cons:

    * Audiosurf would have to be rewritten for OS X with the iPhone SDK

Link to iPhone SDK Program: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/

While the majority of the Audiosurf community won't relate to this, that won't be a problem since the whole point of doing this would be to reach a larger music community.

Where it would be nigh impossible to run Audiosurf on an iPod, the SDK out for the iPhone makes it very possible.  As far as writing Audiosurf for a DS goes, the publishing process would be much more complicated.  With Apple's SDK Program, the developer could just send the program to them when its finished for:
-A much larger and interested community
-70% of the profit, and a much larger amount of money in the end.

Steve Hjobs.

Who is he?? =S

CEO of Apple...

-----------

Back on topic... It would be nice to see it happen... I mean, for iPods it could be done like Phase... But DS version is probably gonna get a bigger audience... The thing is... How could we get the songs onto it? I mean, USB link to the game cartridge?

i just tried this on my DS, and it's definitely more fun!
and if my framerate wasn't 5 fps it would be quite playable.

guitar hero: on tour for the DS proves the DS can handle 3D graphics, touch screen control and real music at the same time. (in guitar hero: on tour music plays from 2 ogg files at the same time)

my test with DS2PC got me proof that the game is also fun when controlling your vehicle with touch-screen.
DS2PC is a remote desktop program for DS and PC, allowing you to control your PC, and recieve screen output on your DS.

I forgot that topic and I wrote that : http://www.audio-surf.com/forum/index.php/topic,3649.0.html

I think it could be really nice if Audiosurf was on Wiiware.

It could read the audio files on the SD Card and maybe read Audio Discs.
( But I don't know if the Wii can read other discs than Wii Games... )

It could be also updatable via the Wii Shop Channel, or in game, if a Wiiware channel can do that.

For the gameplay, just hold the Wiimote horizontally and lean it left or right, button 1 and 2 for left & right click, it could rumble like the 360 pad, and there is the IR for the mouse.

There is the Wi-Fi to connect to the Audiosurf server and a virtual keyboard to enter the login & password.

And for the price, 1000 points maybe ?...

What do you think of that idea ?...

Yeah, I think Gimlao has a great idea! It would be really funny to play Audiosurf Wiiware version. By controlling our ship with the Wiimote, we must feel much like if we really were the driver!

Well seeing what the iphone and ipod touch can do now the app store has been launched I have to agree this game is perfect for iphone/pod. Infact I think this could be THE killer app for the system and if it isn't being ported right now its a massive oppertunity missed.

for one thing, Dylan doesn't have a team of coders working on this.  It's him and his wife, and any support he can get from the forum.  Secondly, it would still have to be dumbed down a lot to run at all on the iPod, let alone run on premium.  And third, there isn't any code for this in the first place if my look at the Questviewer program showed me anything.

So I sat down with my recently obtained PSP and tried out a few of the Homebrew programs with it, and I get the feeling that it'd probably be the best platform to play it on.

A DS version could only support somewhat minimal 3D graphics, but perhaps enough to get a conversion. It'd need a full rewrite of the code though, and it'd be up to Dylan to release the source code to even produce something similar. (Since he's made it using Quest 3D, it might make things even worse) The other problem is the fact that you need to make the .ash files... and I don't think the DS is really that great at processing, but I could be wrong.

PSP would be a better choice overall... but I could be wrong.

With the release of the iPhone, you can now buy stuff from 3rd party devs at the app store.

Someone get to it!

also, I apologize if this has been posted before as I only read the 1st page.

PSP is not better. Its base engine has so many requirements. The game actions cant be that really fast witch just killed the idea. If to make it on PSP, the whole ninja move thing would not exist. So there is no point. DS might pull it off but I have no idea there. But about PSP I am 100% sure!

Your reasoning doesn't make that much sense, and a DS could pull it off... but I feel like a PSP would have more success. The console is designed to support MP3 music anyway.

Half the problem is the source code, the other half is creating tracks on the fly. Unless you port the .ash files directly and it translates, I don't see a phone being able to produce tracks.

Also, the screen... so tiny! Something about playing games on a phone seems a bit ridiculous.
