Prism

Left Click: Makes collected block color cooler (red->yellow, yellow->green etc, erases purples)

Right Click: Makes collected block color hotter (purple->blue, blue->green etc, erases reds)

Ability Rules:
Board and match collection ticks identical to Pointman.
Storms are treated as their standard-block equivalents.
Whites/Blacks are erased.
Grey Blocks are unaffected.
No limit on use of ability.
No special boni.

Designed (after much consideration) as an exclusively Elite tier ship- lack of green blocks would force blue~yellow shifts in Casual and Pro, which would be game-wreckingly overpowered.

Butter Ninja and Seeing Red boni remain based on initial block color.

Chaining would require some solid strat on slower songs. Possibly overpowered in heavy traffic though, even with the pointman size board and no special score bonus.

Also didnt want to read through 8 pages to see if similar has already been posted; if so, disregard.

Edit 1: White/Black -> Grey effect removed.
Edit 2: Added ability rules for all block types; altered effect of trying to chill purples, heat reds or affect non-colored blocks for balance reasons.
Edit 3: Clarified Butter Ninja / Seeing Red rules.
Edit 4: Specified Prism as an exclusively Elite tier ship for balance reasons; removed all references to Casual/Pro specific blocks and powerups.

this impressed me! :)

Didn't see this one mentioned anywhere...

How difficult would it be to make modifications to the ships or use new ones? Probably because I want to make the skysphere a picture of stars and planets, I would absolutely turn Mono into, say, the Millennium Falcon and cruise down a course in that ship, or maybe the Firefly Serenity.

That would be badass.

My understanding is that if you have a legal copy of Quest3D you can make assets that will work with Audiosurf.
Without that, however, you can only switch the character ships about (there's a couple of unused ship models in there as well you can switch in).
Quest3D is obscenely expensive (cheapest version is €1249 up to the most expensive at €9999), considering how buggy it is, I'm surprised the make any sales when compared to something like Unity (free for PC, Mac and web).

Anyway, Quest3D comes with an exporter for I think it's 3DS max (or whatever it's called these days) which will allow you to use them in Audiosurf.

So you're saying I need Quest3D to do it, and a legal copy at that? What prevents such things from being done with the free Unity software? Is there no readily-available converter?

Sorry, I confused things a little with Unity. Ignore that bit, I was just saying that Quest3D and Unity do the same thing. There's no interoperability between them.

Last time I checked, you needed a legal copy of Quest3D installed to use the exporter plugins in whatever 3D package you had the model in.
The plugins themselves are free to download though: http://support.quest3d.com/index.php?title=Exporting

You're welcome to try and get some results with them. I'd love to be proven wrong about this. Would open up some interesting mod capabilities! :)

Untactical.

I get so frustrated by the element of this game that requires you to basically memorise a song's track to be able to get a good score.

So I'd like to propose an entirely combo free gameplay mode.
Many many coloured blocks. You just get a set points value per block depending on it's colour.
Grey blocks NOT placed on beats as is totally nonsensical but placed randomly away from beats with a set deduction of points.
No end bonuses in this game-mode except for Stealth and one for collecting EVERY coloured block.

The idea is you can then play a track you've never played before and stand a fighting chance of setting a good score simply by being good at manouvering the ship in time with the music, with extra incentive on hard sections. None of that combo crap.

Overfiller

Just mess up as many match you can, per each overfill you get a random score between 1000 and 30000 points depending how many there blocks there are from the colors, you wont get points per each normal match. Ironmode is OK to use, you dont have to restart or end the run.

a new difficulty: Overkill

All elite colors on puzzle character, but greys are also in puzzle characters

on mono, only red blocks are colored blocks and greys are multiplied by x1.5 so it will be even harder

These suggestions would undoubtedly fit the name of the proposed difficulty. However, stealth would be almost impossible to achieve. It does seem that Audiosurf could add something fresh at this point and this could be an interesting addition.
