update problem, not able to apply
« on: January 19, 2008, 04:33:50 am »
I have this problem with downloading the new update. Downloading seems to go well, but when he's applying the update an error occurs and it's not able to finish the process. Any idea what might be the problem? And is there anyone out there with the same problem?

you should have an email with the link to the full download. delete the audiosurf folder and install the full beta week2 exe. the link is also here: http://media.audio-surf.com/SetupAudiosurf_BetaWeekend2_1.19.08.exe

Ok, I toyed around a bit with the updater and the uninstaller. Looked at some files, created three installations of the game and found out something:
- My first installation stayed at Version:1
- Do the uninstaller erase all files? It seems to me, as he didn't. Cause after installation of the betawe2.exe my version dropped down to version 3 after installing version 4.
- Now installed it in a seperate folder, and it works out fine.

After downloading the new Beta Audio Surf won't ask me to update. Any idea why?

The problem is that Audiosurf does not prompt for administrator access through Vista's UAC and thus can't write to the program directory.

Hi--freakin Vista.  I run it on vista--try installing in another folder other than your program files folder.  Like on my documents. This is where it will work for me usually.

I'm running XP, and I can't get Beta 2 to auto-update. When I start it up, it goes to the regular menu; clicking Play results in the message that the beta is over. I've tried installing it in other folders, uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting the computer, all to no avail. Audiosurf is not in my hosts file; I never tried playing it on this computer before Beta 2.

Oh, and this is an administrator Windows account.

Please help. :-/

exact same problem here, actually. It's telling me to close out of the program and restart every time I try to play, in order for it to update. But every time I do it just takes me to the same menu screen. So I try to play, but it won't let me and it tells me to restart etc etc.

halp plz :(
