I'm the troll? Jesus, give me a fucking break. Not a damn thing I've ever said in these forums has been "just to stir up shit". It's not my fault dipshits like Pwntastic go around making a fucking flamewar out of every argument with sly personal stabs and BS website reviews.

This is just how pissed I get when bullshit starts flying around. I'm just glad people in the real world aren't this stupid... I'm glad it's only an internet thing. Otherwise, I would be the inventor of the next huge bomb.  ::)

(edit: This is the kind of shit that turns techies into crackers, isn't it? People so sick of idiocy flying around the internet, they just want to destroy it all? Hmm, now I can identify with those people. Quite amazing, really... how stupid people can get online...)

Even if (and im not saying it isnt) was  true, the way you're acting now does not make people say "oh well, he's a nice guy".

I'm NOT a nice guy. I don't sugarcoat everything I write. I don't think of peoples' feelings when I'm arguing stupidity. Through most of this topic's referenced "locked" topic's life, I was the nice, helpful guy that you'd see when people don't start injecting bullshit. When people start doing dumb shit like in this topic, "OMG you are so stupid! GTFO the interwebs, BAN!", I become the pissed-off asshole you see right now.

Quit doing stupid shit, and you magically get nice comments! I shouldn't have to be an asshole 24/7. But evidently that's what this topic is requiring at the moment...

edit: To clarify, this is how a topic should proceed:
guy: Why my this isn't working?
me: Try this this and this.
guy 2: this might also work
guy: Cool, that worked!
(silence as nobody knows who the hell helped who...)
---
guy: Why my this isn't working?
me: Not sure but try this.
guy: No, that didn't work
guy 2: No, you need to do this.
guy: Eh! that worked, thanx!
me: my bad.
---
guy: Why my this isn't working?
me: Not sure but try this.
guy 2: No, don't do that, it blah.
me: oshti, ok's
(?? unsolved ??)
---
This is how topics should NOT proceed...
guy: Why my this isn't working?
me: Try this this and this.
guy 2: OMFG STFU FAG N00B YOU ARE SO STUPID WHY YOU TELL HIM
me: WTF FAG STFU! GHEY GHEY GHEY
...
guy: gaise?
---

See what I mean?

Say what you want, but by the looks of it, Pwntastic is a moderator, so insulting him is not a very smart thing to do...

Mods aren't paid, they aren't even hired, they're just promoted to that position. They are charged with the task of cleaning up the forums. It's something I could do very well with my eyes closed, yet it's threads and discussions like this that keep me far and away from such a position on a site I don't already own (since I do a plenty good and fair enough job on sites I do own...). Pwntastic is one of those people that were "upgraded" in the forum database to be given that moderating permission. He just happens to be a person that loves abusing his position, knowing he can't ban himself for flamebaiting...

One should not have to be afraid of talking bad about moderators for fear of them doing something bad to you. Discussions are here for a reason, and to censor something they don't agree with (e.g. a mod deleting/locking topics that aren't going in their favor) would just prove that they can't handle their power.

And trust me, I've put in my share of complaints to Dylan about him...

Well that's true, but calling him a dipshit is still not smart. I think that a moderator who censors/locks something he doesn't agree with is not good moderating, but remember, wether you like it or not, he still has more power than you, and if you do insult him in such a way, he might have a little present waiting for you.

I guess this may be true, considering as though he somehow manages to get away scot-free with his McAfee stunt... any forum administrator would have demoted any moderator that would do that, and it looks like he's still around... I doubt Dylan really cares what the mods here do anyway.  :-\

(which is, commendably, to say that he puts more time into the game than cleaning up after errant moderators... but still, it makes life here a living hell.)

*Sigh*
This is how topics devolve into flamewars.
Someone says something, someone puts up a contesting opinion and goes out of line, first person gets all indignant, and before you know it, BAM!  The entire world (and its hot, easy sister the Internet) is full of @$$holes.

You can be a nice guy and not sugarcoat things. All it takes is intellegence and wit, unfortunatly you full down with just being a flat out asshat. No offence.

When you recommend someone get rid of their page file, the rest of your advice becomes a little bit suspect. People can honestly mean well with no idea of what they are talking about, and it's a common tactic of trolls to just recommend bad advice. Not jumping the gun or anything but either you're a troll or you don't honestly read into the advice you throw out at people. At least make sure there isn't anything bad about what you are suggesting... for example possible SYSTEM FAILURE.

You argue that Pwntastic simply flames you and you are foolish enough to take the bait and get into an arguement with him. This is what you call "taking your internet way too seriously". You are so easily baited into arguements instead of letting them slide because you are fearful of being wrong/ have to defend your honour/ you spell honour like a Brit! Simply ignore him being an ass hat or just tactically through something back. Besides him and a lot of other people have complained about you in the Steam chat and I can understand why. I don't honestly give a fuck about you because you're just another internet user in the big internet sea. Stop coming off as an asshole and maybe people will like you.

Tumdace, who gives a fuck if your thread gets closed, honestly. It's not like you're at fault, but don't EVER ASK WHY A THREAD WAS CLOSED IT IS CLOSED BECAUSE A MODERATOR SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE CLOSED.

You think going and making a new thread on why it was closed is a good idea though? Forum Moderator Politics is something no one wants to discuss directly on the forum, perhaps over PM though.

I agree. There was no reason to lock that thread for what happened. People needed their posts deleted and a proverbial slap upside the head, but the topic wasn't through.

Yeah, except in my case, the advice I give is something I take myself, and do all the time. The confusion lies in that it USED to be "stupid advice" but I was one of those people that hadn't even read the "omg dont do that!" advice when I first did it. Hell, before I had 3gb RAM, Photoshop used to warn me how stupid I am every time I started it, but I never had any problems, in everything I'd done (editing massive images, for one thing). Now that I have that much RAM, I think Photoshop just says "Fuck it! I guess you know what you're doing!" and doesn't even warn me anymore.

To clarify, the absolute worst case scenario of "crashing" without a page file is a program you're loading a file in will say "OMFG! out of memory" and quit. You will NEVER be left with an unusable system, absolute "PERIOD", end of story. Hell, if you really need to use more memory than is available, you can always turn it right back on, while Windows is running, without rebooting. I honestly can't believe disabling the page file isn't a documented feature of Windows XP SP2.

I don't honestly give a fuck about you because you're just another internet user in the big internet sea. Stop coming off as an asshole and maybe people will like you.
I agree... I'm going to start leaning on the Report Post button when I see people flamebaiting from now on. I should've done that to begin with, but... well, when it's a moderator doing the flamebaiting... it's kinda hard to report that post to a moderator.

Please falcon, give it a rest.  This is like the 4th big war you started.  Could someone please lock this topic?
