I don't know if it's been talked about...but i'd like to lend my support toward musepack support. Currently my music is a like a 40/30/20/5/5 mix of musepack/flac/mp3/ogg/others....and while I can live without support for Monkeys Audio (I should convert those to FLAC anyway)...the musepack is a huge chunk of my music. Would be nice to not have to copy albums over and transcode to FLAC for AS use (I'm somewhat of an audiophile and dislike lossy-to-lossy).
music is my life...audiosurf is like my drug.

Is it too much to ask to have the monos on a different scoreboard?
It's depressing to do awesome on a song and get around 100k with a near perfect score only to find some pusher got 400k
I don't see how it's even possible to get that kind of score without cheating somehow

There is already a mono only score board, not found it yet? It's a hidden Easter egg, been there a while now  ;)

and you should try out some pusher and pointman if your olny playing mono your olny about getting a tenth out of the game of what it could be.

and puzzle characters are much more competitive than mono.

oh and do check out the ranking in the webpage or in online stats there is a filter for mono.

Your old friend ViRUS will remove that huge image on the quote for you =P

Competitive, yes.
Fun, no.

There's too much happening with those classes that you don't get to enjoy the song
And I would rather not have to play the same song hundreds of times to memorize the placement of every block

Also if you could tell me how to access this mono-only board I would appreciate it

No, he means mono-ONLY board. And I'm not sure (I'm pretty new to mods on the surf) but I think it's editing it to be [as-monoonly]? Can someone back me up on that?

Oh, and I play Eraser pro and enjoy the song plentiful! I think Eraser's probably the easiest Pro character (if some random sais something stupid like "But mono's easer" I'l punch your lights out...) and you should give it a go! The heart-racing of a puzzle character makes faster songs like rock and hardstyle more enjoyable, I believe.

Fun - yes!

If you ask most people here, you'll find we all started off as mono only players. The puzzle characters are often more fun to play, you just need to try them.

You don't need to memorise all the block locations at all. The basic techniques are as follows. These can be built upon to make a more complex play style, which can and is more enjoyable to play.

Pointman - Pick up the higher point blocks and then drop them together to make large matches
Pusher - choose two colours, the most abundant two, send one to the left and one to the right.
Eraser - Collect two colours, erase the most abundant and then when the previous match has disappeared drop the erased blocks.

Clicking on the picture of the mono character on the stats website will filter the board to be mono only.
As 0VERS33R says, you can tag your songs with [as-monoonly] so only mono can play the song, but this will lead you to a different scoreboard to the main one, which might be pretty empty

Oh so THAT'S what monoonly does... Ah, ok. I'll make note to tell that to my friend.

As h3x said, we all started out on mono. I, as you did, got really pissed off with the scoreboard and tried, I mean, just had a go at casual pointman. You should to. I can now usually place in the top five globally in the eraser pro songs I play and I still love listening to whatever track it is that I'm listening to... Actually, it's not as complicated as you think to the point where I (and this is true) listen to podcasts on my Audiosurf. Beat that, Lu Tze!

Oh I, er, just realised I moved away from the topic at hand....

Customizable characters! Like, Eraser pro with fins!! Sounds meglamaniacle but it would be fun!

Hi, I'll throw the fact that some people like me like playing as Mono and don't care about puzzle characters/scoreboards.

Now I can go back to my cave, I'm a happy caveman :)

Hey, just cos I'm an Eraser Pro doesn't mean I don't occasionally indulge in Mono!

I play mainly pusher or eraser, but still go back to mono as well, sometimes just to see if my mono skills are as good as they used to be.

Despite playing puzzle characters, I still play for fun. I will surf entire albums (thanks to YAAP and ViRUS) because I like the album. I find pusher can be more enjoyable to play, and so what if I don't get the throne. Though sometimes I do play for the throne.

It's what you enjoy doing, no one can change that. Though try the other characters, give them a chance. If you haven't tried them, how can you know you don't like them?

Tbh, I find the puzzle characters much more fun than mono. And about memorizing block placement...I can't really say of anybody who does - the only big thing you'll usually see players memorizing are gaps, since they are disruptive for puzzle players.

I used to be a mono/begas player back at release, but then decided to pick up pusher...and then pointman...and then dv/eraser. The puzzle characters just have a lot more depth to them!

It is not surprising to see puzzle players getting 5x a mono score tbh, depending on song.

Oh, and I play for fun too. I only really return dethrone messages if I'm not lazy, lol.
