Post your desktop!
« on: February 23, 2008, 09:52:31 pm »
What better way to start off the new Chat section than the obligatory screen-envy posting spree?

Well, since I'm starting it and this is the post everyone's probably going to read, I think I should lay down some rules to help keep the topic tidy and enjoyable.

  • Don't post large screenshots! If you don't use a service that offers thumbnailing (shameless self promotion), post a link to the image, not the image itself.
  • DON'T post BMP or other uncompressed screenshots. They are just too large and nobody wants to see it. If you want lossless compression (the same as BMP, just with ZIP-like compression), use PNG.
  • No spam... if you just posted your desktop, we don't need to see it again until at least another page.

Hope that's enough for everyone to live with!  ;D

And I'll start!

Didn't take long for the "big images" rule to get broken.

I've never been a fan of busy desktops.

Yep. I shoulda also said "don't complain about being flamed for Vista".

But Jesus. A MOD broke that rule?  :o

Oh... and yeah, I tried to keep mine clean. I used to use my desktop as a general storage container. Unfortunately, it's reverting right on back to that. When I tried Vista, I tried to keep the desktop clean to enjoy the clean look. Once I got sick of Vista, I got sick of trying to maintain that clean image, so I said "screw it, function over appearance" and started dumping unsorted crap there again, kinda a perpetual post-it note system. Every one of those icons is a procrastinated project. :P

Actually the site blocks Vista  :-\

Yuppers. I'll start a new topic about that (anti-Vista, that is). It deserves the discussion.
