OK, good - thanks.

Next I'll send you a bigger and bigger one until you have Audiosurf. Hold on.

So I just bought this off of steam and I am getting this error every time I try to launch the game.  I have tried everything that has been listed here so far and I am still unable to play.  Any help would be appreciated.

Why'd you buy it if you couldn't play it?  ???

We're working on this one with 2kreative as well--for now can you tell us if you can play music using this?

I can't run that file either I get an error that says "This application failed to start because BASSCD.dll was not found."

Ah shoot--well that's interesting. There are two different errors floating around because 2kreative can run it--so 2 slightly different variations on the error.

Dylan will keep working on this and will get back to you.

*Update*

Hey so after I installed audiosurf on my roommate's computer and seeing how it worked, I was able to figure out that I was missing the BASSCD.dll file found in the "3rd" folder in the engine folder.  I realized that it wasn't there because my anti virus program, Bit Defender, thought it was a virus and it would just delete it.  After uninstalling Bit Defender and placing the BASSCD.dll in the "3rd" folder, I was able to run the game.  If you have any questions let me know and hopefully this is something that you guys can address.

Glad you got that figured out! Here's a post from the bass.dll forum. It seems that bit defender is throwing a false alarm:

Hi Ian,

thought i might let you know.
Bitdefender reports a Trojan (Trojan.Peed.Gen) on the latest Basscd.dll.

i've tested it on: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
All other AV programs except Bitdefender say the file is clean.

so it's a false alarm.

regards,

Helmut

I had the same error.

I first tryed to verify the game cache
didnt work.

then i tryed redownloading it by:

- going to audiosurf properties

- Delete local content

- and redownloading the game

worked! :P

Hey there I've been having the same problem, and have a lot of help form labeth (thankyou).

But still no luck, I don't have any virus sofware getting in the way. I have all the bass files, and it still says that path is missing.

I wish I could re-format, but I don't have an external... so what am I to do?

The built up tension to play this game is epic I tell you.
