Edit IDV3 tags/Media Library
« on: February 20, 2008, 03:37:54 pm »
Maybe I'm crazy here, but I don't store all of my music in one place. I have about 2,000 songs in a Stepmania directory, which requires specific directory structures which aren't particularly friendly to navigate in audiosurf, a new songs folder, a sorted songs folder, and an unsorted songs folder. It would make life so much easier to be able to have a media library that aggregates all of my songs into one place and lets me search via artist, song title, and album, similar to what Winamp or other media players use.
Also, I've noticed quite a few songs lack the IDV3 tags (or the counterpart in .ogg files), thus creating tons of redundant and inaccurate high score tables. I know that Amazon has a web API that lets you pull information about music from their databases, and freedb.org has something similar. Most of the time the information necessary to determine if you're playing the same song is there, just not necessarily in a perfectly parsed out form, and would help make competing against others much easier and painless (well, until you get dethroned  ;D )
