I've seen 80-150mb videos before. You won't really get much smaller unless you want to cut quality more. You can decrease a few options (lower bitrate and stuff) if you want to.

I'm sure the quality on youtube isn't amazing so the quality of the video could be put down a bit.. I did one with Movie maker at 19.2mb ish and it does look a bit crap but you can make it out..

Thought by using VirtualDub I could probably get a good filesize at way more quality than Movie Maker does.. but not sure how.

As far as I know, nobody's bothered with copyright for uploading videos.  And they shouldn't have to, either, nobody's going to try and rip the song from the video when they could get a sound effect free version elsewhere.

Well, for many reasons I, and many others too, upload videos without Sound Effects. But even if you have the effects in, the Audio is still property of someone else, and I've seen Accounts deleted and Videos removed because People didn't have permission to.

Basically you're right, and Audiosurf Videos are in Accord of "Fair Use", yet not entirely, which is why the entire Video is also Property of the Artist of the Song as they gave the Audio for it. Many record companies don't care, but some do and forbid the upload.

But most people don't know sh*t about Copyright, neither when a video is legal, nor how to make it legal.

what are people experiences with the best settings to use for youtube i recored with 1280x720@30fps with fraps and it looks fine and smooth in the vid but i find it very hard to deal with 30 fps for playing when it is usually at 75fps and i can never do as good while recording because of it.

here is my test vid i just convertd the fraps vid to a mp4 with h.264 video and aac audio and i got it down to 300mb with a decent look
