Spiderbait - Black Betty

Lots of fun as well as being one of the hardest songs.

Nope - the distance between the blocks and the speed at which the track is moving are constant - Audiosurf just doesn't put the blocks in respective lanes depending on the tone height and doesn't use the same color for the same tone - a behavior you might be used to from games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Dance Dance Revolution etc. Audiosurf isn't a game about pretending to be playing an instrument - it generates PLAYABLE levels based on a respective track and matches the blocks with "spikes" at all frequencies (hence it can detect the rhythm as well as vocals or e.g. guitars), so that you can play a game of "match three". =)
In fact I'm very glad someone posted that test tone - it was very insightful as to how Audiosurf generates its levels, although I still don't know what the curves are based on... Random code? =)

When you speak of curves, I wonder what you mean. We tried various sine tones, and managed one that goes up to 1013 on Ninja Mono Ironmode. Flatluigi is to thank for the 1013, and Zing for the idea.

I mean the corkscrews. The fact that the track turns left and right although the tone is constant. I have a suspicion that it might be some random variable that is "activated" once the melody becomes too dull or one that simply "floats around" if no variable data is provided.

The only thing I noticed is that Audiosurf sometimes put single blocks in the 1 KHz tone and sometimes "lined blocks" - hence one might be under the impression that the distance between blocks isn't constant (although it is if you consider the lines =). Maybe this has something to do with the difficulty settings as well.

silent death is nice.
i did get only about 150.000 points, but i am the only one on the board right now with a clean finish!
did have 1 respawn, got greedy and accidentally grabbed a block on my full lane.

The way Audiosurf generates Levels differ GREATLY between different input formats, MP3 is the most "buggy" one to use, because it's results depend on what DirectShow filter is used, what sound hardware, etc. If you make a silent OGG or FLAC Track, there will be no blocks at all. Some tracks are MUCH easier with those codecs.
