How to get things running smoother
« on: August 08, 2012, 01:55:01 am »
I am trying to stealth The Ballade Of Blocks with Fraps running in the background. Normally with the stealth videos I have recording the run is not an issue. However, with this intense song even the slightest micro-stutter will cost me the stealth (it has happened a few times and it pissed me off >:(). Unless I can make the stutters go away, it is impossible for me to get a recording of a stealth on the Ballade Of Blocks.

What I tried so far:
1 ) Disabled Avast anti-virus (no effect)
2 ) Decreased resolution so I could get better frames/sec (improved but there are still occasional stutters)
3 ) Ran AS on 1 CPU core and Fraps on the other CPU core (actually ran worse like this)

What else can I try?
You know, I guess teachers are like gigolos. You park, you order, they put their hose in your hole, fill you up, and get paid.

Processor: AMD Athlon 255 X2 @ 3.1Ghz
Graphics: NVidia Geforce GTX 550 TI

All drivers are up to date.

try using "Action!" instead of Fraps. I´m testing it now and works much better in my pc than Fraps,
i use to have lag problems with DV runs (with graphic setting in minimal) and a few minutes ago i record a 29:00 minutes long song WITHOUT LAGS! (and graphics setting in enhanced) :O and you have a much better pc than me so it should work even better

Cool
I'll give that a try when I have time later today.

I found that recording to a blank hard drive (formatted) made the biggest difference for me, and I use FRAPS myself.

ERtrysDynat told me to do it.

I wish I could do that. The only spare hard drive is a Quantum Fireball CX 3.5 Series that holds 10 GB lol

Action is definitely better. I still have micro-stutters, but at least they are constant stutters instead of random lags which is better to work with for me. Thanks for suggesting, Sovirocha. I like it! :D
