Oh yeah, this part isn't done yet, but I'm also thinking of allowing only one game account per purchase. That way scoreboard banning can be useful.

If such would mean two people with their own accounts can't use the same computer, please don't. Red Alert 3 went this way and it was a pain in the ass. If you want scoreboard banning to be useful, there has to be some way to tie a steam account to a game account instead and ban the steam account from the scoreboards.

The scoreboard server is now better at matching songs only if they're similar enough in a few different ways. It looks at duration, density, and one other stat. It also cleans up the title to remove unecessary extra text like "(album version)" and "(amazon exclusive)" and it converts some text("featuring" becomes "feat."). If you guys could list text you notice in your music collection that should be converted or removed before comparison, that would be awesome.

Oh nice plan, stripping unnecessary text from tags.

What Laserrobotics said.
If AS (or ASA) grabs SteamID and submits this with a score, you can ban a cheaters SteamID. This will allow several people to play on the same machine, while allowing cheaters to be perma-banned. There is the chance that should someone cheat on your Steam login, you will also get banned - although the obvious reply is if you don't trust that person not to cheat don't trust them with your machine/Steam account.
As for spoofing SteamIDs, there should be a way to query Steam if that account ID is playing AS/ASA at the time.

If I'd known the 8-bit idea was so useful I would have chucked it into the ring before. It's an idea I've had bouncing round my head for a long time as a way to make the scoreboards fairer.
Expanding on h3x's suggestion, I think the accounts/steamids issue could be solved with a 3 strikes rule and some additional account management, although this might be a bit over-complicated:
- The steamid has a 'primary' account. This account has control over which other accounts can log in with that steamid.
- The list of accounts is by default a whitelist, so accounts must be approved before the attempt to login.
- User can switch it to a blacklist if they want, but run the risk of the security risk that causes if someone has access to their Steam account and creates multiple Audiosurf accounts to login as.
- If any account logged in through a steamid is caught cheating then both account and steamid are banned from posting scores for (as an example) 7 days and the main account is e-mailed with the reason.
- When a steamid is 'banned' the 'primary' account can still log in to remove/add accounts to the whitelist/blacklist.
- If any steamid is caught cheating (as an example) 3 times they are banned from posting scores permanently.
- If any account is caught cheating (as an example) 3 times they are banned from posting scores permanently.
Hopefully that's self-explanatory. It's probably far too complicated a system than Dylan has time for though.
Less than that I'd suggest just allowing 2 or 3 accounts per steamid and not making them transferable.
GeoLuz:
There are people who won't like the idea of Steam user IDs because they won't be able to use alt accounts. I think the Steam user ID is a good idea since it will be easier to track down cheaters. I don't think there is much to lose from not being able to create multiple accounts. There still can be enough fun had from playing with just one account.
I wasn't necessarily looking for the perfect solution to the issue of matching songs with scoreboards, I was looking for at least an improvement in matching songs with appropriate scoreboards over AS.
S.:
Having one account per Steam account is a bad, even horrible idea, because some fair players like to have multiple accounts.
Could maybe put a warning system, where the people who ´accidentally´ cheat (by friend or whatever) still can get away with it.
