Crashing hard

AS is crashing on startup with no explanation. I've verified and even done a delete-and-reinstall, to no avail. It gets as far as the first blank white screen with the beginning of the load meter showing, then Windows says QuestViewer has stopped responding and will be closed.

Actually, strangely enough, it works fine after a reboot. Go fig, huh?

The blank screen sounds like it was a DX issue. Although a reboot is a good fix for most things, including this it seems.
