Getting songs online
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:59:53 pm »
I would like to see something where I can grab a song from a website and play it on Audiosurf.

Thoughts?

If you want Audiosurf to be treated like a file-locker (i.e. Rapidshare, Hotfile, Filesonic, etc), yeah sure.

no, you dont actually get the song, you just ride it.

example would be you find a song you like on youtube, plug in the url on audiosurf, audiosurf goes to where that song is saved and streams it to you.

This has been asked for and discussed too many times.  It's possible that Dylan will have it in AA, but as doing so would necessitate a partnership with whatever music/video site the songs are streaming from it's likely either in there now or it won't ever be.

Even then, it's still piracy (P.S Don't give a crap about it personally - I just follow the forum's rules.).  Dylan wants to offer a legal game where people get their own content.  The streaming songs are offered to the game by the author.  But what could be done is streaming of free music such as what is available on Newgrounds Music Portal for exemple.  Or music from Jamendo.  Streaming music from big artist will just be problems.  Some people will just like to run Stereo Mix in the background and get the music for free...

Also, the another problem is... bandwith!  I need a huge server with looooooooots of bandwith because a lot of people will download a lot of songs to play them.  So yeah.

also technical issues, audiosurf needs the whole song, it cant work from streams.
