A file is corrupted and you'll need to redownload. One person says deleting manually is what works, not deleting local content:

This is a strange one--sorry it's happening to you. I'm going to ask Dylan what he thinks about the fact it doesn't happen in mono--that may be a clue. Does it work OK in all levels of mono (easy, medium and hard)? We are working on it.
For what it's worth, here's all the stuff I have on the black block errors:

(this one says turning off antialiasing fixes some things--not specifically black blocks)

thanks--that may be another clue to figure out what's going on. This is near the top of our list for things to figure out and we're working on it.

I think i found something.
At first i had the Demo to retail problem. After that was solved i couldnt access the options menu and all blocks except on mono was black.
I tried deleting it trough steam, re install, deleting it trough steam and manually reboot, reinstall steam then install but nothing worked.
I saw somthing about options.cgr in i thread and found it in Steam\steamapps\common\audiosurf\engine\Support . What i also found was a much LARGER options.cgr.bak. I deleted options.cgr, made a copy of options.cgr.bak and renamed it to options.cgr and then it all works fine.
Hope this info can be of some use to you.
